Discover the excitement and simplicity of a night at altitude in a mountain hut with your instructor/guide. While most of the classic ski touring summits and itineraries are accessible by day, others are too demanding to be completed in one day by the vast majority of ski tourers. Sleeping in a refuge allows access to itineraries and summits that are usually out of reach for less experienced ski tourers. It is not just a matter of trickery and splitting the effort of the climb, it is also an experience for those who love these winter mountain atmospheres. Spending the night in a refuge can also be the purpose of the outing, there is no need to climb any higher, accessing the refuge on your own and coming down on skis is definitely a great experience.

Mountain huts in winter

Guarded or unguarded hut? Not all refuges are guarded in winter, depending on their location and access conditions: the wardens are able to welcome us on set dates. Outside of these intervals it is possible to sleep in a refuge with restricted access to the building, and without a guard, if, among other things, food and water must be provided. Depending on the period you are interested in and your degree of tolerance for "lack of comfort" we will advise you which hut best suits your expectations: guarded hut with half board, unguarded hut where you will need to bring food and cooking facilities, shelter and hut as an intermediate stage of a sustained itinerary.
